Falls are considered one of the biggest issues within our Health and Social Care system (HSC). The cost of falls is two-fold, firstly the impact on the person who falls can be significant in terms of their quality of life, physically, mentally, and unfortunately can be catastrophic.
The cost to the HSC is also high and with falls adding pressures to NIAS, Emergency Departments and Hospital Admissions.
We know that not all falls are inevitable and the need to look at prevention is crucial.
The Ageing Well Public Health Planning Team at the Public Health Agency is in the process of undertaking scoping of Safer Mobility/Falls Prevention in Northern Ireland with the goal of agreeing an evidenced based safer mobility model.
We would be delighted if you could save the date attached and join us with other key stakeholders to share the scoping that we have completed to date and to collectively hear all your perspectives and guidance in developing this model.
