SBNI Strategic Plan 2026-2030

Location: Regional

Closes: 26/08/2025

Consultation with children, young people, parents, and carers

On behalf of the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland (SBNI), Barnardo’s NI is carrying out a series of consultations for children, young people, parents, and carers. We are seeking to gather their opinions and views on what the SBNI should concentrate and focus on in terms of its aims, goals, and priorities in its new strategic plan for 2026-2030. This is a public consultation so open invitation is extended to all families, carers or young people.

The purpose of this exercise is to ensure that the views and voices of children and young people, parents and carers are heard and responded to in relation to the safeguarding and child protection system in Northern Ireland. This event will provide participants an opportunity to engage in some group work, art activities and open discussion as means to capture their contributions on this topic . Sessions will be running across various localities throughout NI via in person sessions as well as through Virtual MS teams.

There will be an opportunity for young people to meet directly with Bernie McNally, the SBNI independent chairperson, in addition to the main consultation sessions.  If this is something that would be of interest, please let facilitating staff know.

Enrolment can be completed by clicking here,
