10,000 More Voices is a regional initiative led by the Public Health Agency (PHA) in partnership with Health and Social Care (HSC) Trusts. It is designed to capture the real experiences of people using health and social care services across Northern Ireland.
By listening to what matters most to service users, carers, families and staff, we aim to improve the quality and safety of services through meaningful engagement and learning.
Why This Matters
Every story matters. Understanding how people feel about their care helps us see beyond numbers and performance data. It enables us to deliver truly person-centred care — shaped by lived experience, compassion, and respect.
Feedback collected through 10,000 More Voices supports continuous improvement and helps inform decisions at every level of the system, from local service changes to regional policy.
How It Works
People are invited to share their experience by completing a short, themed survey.
Responses focus on personal stories — what worked well, what could be improved, and how the experience made them feel.
The stories are analysed using SenseMaker®, an innovative tool that helps identify patterns and themes across large volumes of narrative data.
All responses are anonymous and confidential.
Who Can Get Involved?
We encourage feedback from:
- Patients and clients of health and social care services
- Carers, family members, and support networks
- HSC staff and volunteers
Whether the experience was positive, negative or mixed, every voice can help shape better care.
What Happens Next?
Insights from the programme are used to:
- Improve care and services at local and regional levels
- Guide future planning, policy and commissioning decisions
- Promote a culture of co-production, where users and providers design solutions together
Each survey focuses on a specific theme — such as urgent care, social work, mental health, or care at home — ensuring relevant and timely learning.
