Constipation Work Information Sessions-Easy Read-2026 (003)
The Public Health Agency has partnered with organisations across Northern Ireland, including HSC Trusts and community, voluntary and private sector organisations, to begin developing information aimed at increasing awareness of constipation among people with learning disabilities, across the lifespan. The aim is to co-produce a range of resources to support people with learning disabilities, their families, carers and staff by increasing awareness of the risks, signs and symptoms of constipation, promoting preventative health measures, and providing clear guidance on when and how to seek appropriate help.
To ensure the resources and messages are relevant, accessible and responsive to the real needs of those they are intended to support, we need people with lived experience, families and carers to be part of both the working group and reference group for this work.
We are holding three information sessions for people with lived experience, families and carers. These sessions will provide further information about the proposed project, outline opportunities for involvement, and invite participants to contribute to this exciting piece of work.
The dates are:
Tuesday 22nd September, 7 – 8 pm
Tuesday 29th September, 11 am – 12 noon
Thursday 1st October, 7 – 8 pm
We would be grateful if you could share this invitation with members of your organisations for their consideration and other local contacts.
Those who are interested in attending an information session, please email kim.mcwhirter@hscni.net to indicate which session you would like to attend.
We look forward to hearing from you.
