Belfast Trust Body Worn Cameras Consultation.
Belfast Trust is seeking views on its proposal to implement the use of Body Worn Cameras. Please see below for further information.
What is the Trust proposing?
Belfast Health and Social Care Trust plans to run a six‑month pilot using Body‑Worn Cameras (BWCs) in our Adult Emergency Departments at the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Mater Hospital. Body Worn Cameras will then be introduced in other service areas (as required) subject to the evaluation of the pilot and fulfilment of our Equality, Human Rights, Involvement and Data Protection obligations each time.
This proposal is in response to the unacceptable high and increasing levels of violence and aggression towards our staff. We hope that BWCs will help reduce violence and aggression towards staff and make our hospitals and services safer for everyone. The Trust’s aim is to deter, de‑escalate and document abusive behaviour and to create a safer environment for staff, patients, service users, carers and visitors.
