Following the launch of the 5 Moments for Medication Safety (5MFMS) toolkit last November, we are developing a recorded awareness resource for patients, carers and the general public. We want this resource to reflect what matters most to people with lived experience of using medicines.
What is the resource?
The resource will be a pre‑recorded session, co‑designed with PPI representatives, and may take one of the following formats:
- A short recorded conversation with 2–3 lived experience representatives about how the 5MFMS is, or could be, used in everyday life; or
- A short slide‑based presentation, delivered by lived experience representatives, adapted from existing staff awareness materials and reframed from a patient, carer and public perspective.
PPI partners will guide the final format to ensure it works for the intended audience.
The resource will be available online for all to access.
Who are we looking for?
We are inviting 2–3 PPI representatives who regularly focus on medication safety for themselves or a loved one to help co‑design and record this resource.
The co-design of this resource will be to support peer‑to‑peer learning, grounded in lived experience.
What is involved?
- Participation in two (90 min) virtual co‑design sessions on the following dates/times:
12/05/26 @ 6:30pm to 8pm and
26/05/26 @ 6:30pm to 8pm
- We selected evening time, in the hope this better suits.
- We advise holding these dates in your scheduler.
- Once we hear from interested the 2-3 interested parties we will lock in these dates and times.
- Review and feedback on draft content
- Taking part in the recording of the final resource
- Final review before publication
Estimated total time commitment: approximately 7–8 hours, spread across the project.
How to express interest
If members of your PPI group are interested, please ask them to email an expression of interest to:
medicine.safety@hscni.net by 5pm on 8 May 2026
If you have upcoming PPI meetings and would welcome a short presentation on this opportunity, we would be very happy to attend. Otherwise, we would appreciate your support in sharing this invitation with your PPI members.
A final reminder about the 2 key dates/time to be available for virtual – MST co-design sessions:
12/05/26 @ 6:30pm to 8pm and
26/05/26 @ 6:30pm to 8pm
Thank you in advance for your continued support and helping us ensure this resource is shaped by lived experience and meaningful to patients, carers and the public.
