Children’s Emergency Care Research Survey

Location: Regional

Closes: 25/08/2024

The Paediatric Emergency Research UK and Ireland (PERUKI) are a group of healthcare professionals (doctors and nurses) working in Emergency Departments (A&E), who share the passion of improving the emergency care of sick and injured children through research.

The James Lind Alliance (JLA) are an organisation with years of experience working with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals to identify and prioritise unanswered questions across different healthcare areas.

PERUKI and the JLA are working together to address unanswered questions that need further research in the area of Paediatric Emergency Medicine (children’s emergency care).

What are we doing?
We have gathered questions from children, young people, parents/carers, and healthcare professionals from our first survey, in order to try and help support research for other children in the future. These questions have been summarised and now need to be shortlisted for a final workshop to decide the Top 10.

Who do we want to hear from?
• Children and young people who have gone to hospital to get emergency care.
• Parents and carers who have taken a child to hospital for emergency care.
• Adults who remember going to hospital for emergency care as a child or young person.
• Healthcare professionals who provide emergency care for children and young people.

Hospital care could have been through A&E (the accident and emergency department), or any other area that cares for children and young people before being sent home or admitted to hospital. This does not include the care provided by your GP or from 111.

What do I need to do?
You can take part in the online survey by clicking here

Your answers will help to determine the Top 10 research priorities for children’s emergency medicine. This list will be used by researchers to deliver studies that will improve the emergency care of children and young people.

Closing date for the survey is 25 August 2024
