A regional review of the services of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) for children with visual, hearing or multisensory impairments is being carried out by the Public Health Agency (PHA). There are 13 Allied Health Professions in total, but those most directly involved in services to children and young people with sensory impairment are Occupational Therapists, Orthoptists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists. The review is looking at the whole care pathway and programmes which support children and young people with sensory impairments, with a particular focus on the AHP support involved. In line with the PHA’s “Making Life Better 2012-2023” strategy, and in order to quality assure the project, this is a one-off engagement event to develop, design and plan the wider Personal and Public Involvement for the review. Further information about the Public Health Agency and its purpose, vision and values can be found here.
In order to co-design the Personal and Public Involvement in this review, we are seeking people to participate in a small-scale engagement event on Friday 29th November, 10.00am – 1.00pm, in Belfast (teleconference facilities will be available). This will be a one-off meeting to help identify and design the best way to involve service users and other people affected by these services in order to effectively obtain their input into the review.
You may be a parent or carer of a young person with a visual, hearing or multisensory impairment, or a professional, worker or volunteer involved in the care of young people with sensory impairments. A full role description for participation will be provided prior to the event.
Attend event e.g. interview, information event, focus group
Service users/carers only will be able to claim travel expenses to attend. Please advise if you have any special requirements, including dietary or access needs, to enable you to attend this event.
Places may be limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. There will also be further opportunities in the coming months to become involved in the full Personal and Public Involvement process of this review.
